The Chief Press Secretary to the Lagos State Governor, Gboyega Akosile, has reacted to the planned protest slated for Saturday, February 13, 2020, against the reopening of the Lekki tollgate in the state.
The organisers of the protest are angered by a ruling for the tollgate to be reopened as issued by the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution for Victims of SARS Related Abuses.
The control of the tollgate, which was the epicentre of the October 2020 #EndSARS protest against police brutality and bad governance in Nigeria, was ordered to be returned to the Lekki Concession Company.
Not pleased by the panel’s decision, some Nigerians on Twitter threatened to occupy the tollgate on Saturday to express their displeasure.
Reacting to the planned protest, Akosile, in response to a tweet with the hashtag #DontLetThemBringLagosDown, said “nobody will bring our dear Lagos State down! Their rights end where other people’s rights begin.”
Lagos State had witnessed the destruction of public and private properties during the #EndSARS protest, before and after the alleged Lekki tollgate shooting by soldiers.

What the Bleep are we even benefiting from this toll gate except heavy traffic .
This Lagos state goverment is very very wicked and no body has been hold responsible for the death of the peaceful protester and u plan to open d tollgate becaus of their personal interest .
That tollgate should remain closed , they can’t provide the murderer at the tollgate but they can work on reopening it .
God punish all individuals working on opening this tollgate for their selfish sake .

Perhaps you think all of us are the “owo da agberos” that litter the roads and bus stops across Lagos.A tollgate was the site of one of the worst atrocity ever committed by the Nigeria state against it’s own citizens wherein the same govt desperately tried to bury.
Alaba or not, #EndSARS protest will hunt all who have a hand in the death of all those involved.As for you Simplyleo/Omenka, karma or posterity knows how pay us well.

As most Lagosians have testified, there has been no traffic at the toll plaza on lekki epe since it went out of operation.
So you pay toll to endure hours of traffic, while your car is getting bashed left and right due to the chaos at the toll gate. Then you make your way through the gate and you are greeted by a 10km stretch of road with NO LANE MARKINGS (except for a few meters), few functioning street lights, potholes and crazy drivers with zero law enforcement…
They claim they lost billions in these few months that it has been shutdown, so think about it, how much money have they made since it has been in operation all these years? How many billions? For those that keep shouting PPP up and down, how much has been paid back and how much is left? They probably don’t know, but will be the first to shout PPP, to further their corrupt masters continued graft.

Governance is Nigeria is really a shameful show of power. Of what good is Lekki toll gate to the people?why toll people movement just because you can and major share in that goes to private coffers? Get a rechargeable lithium battery for your fan, Tv, Laptop and light points….better soup na money kill am….you dont have to sleep on the corridor because of heat! I don’t think opening the tollgate will impend any justice. The company (LCC) managing the tollgate is a private and I don’t think they have a hand in what transpired during the EndSARS protest at the place.
And I sincerely hope there will be justice at the end of everything. God bless us all IJN.

It’s well. I hope that Nigerian youths can come out enmasse in 2023 and vote out this government in Lagos that serves only the interest of a few elites. How can any sane government be thinking about reopening the toll gate when the people who died there have not gotten justice? What kind of wickedness and evil is in the heart of those ruling us? People should refuse to pay a dime to use that place. Let the stupid governor of the state and his godfather, go and man the toll gate to collect their blood money. Bastards!
